Galeo Ride and Pro are anti-theft devices that can be attached to valuables and let the owner remotely track their assets.
Mobile and website apps
As part of this project, I designed the interface and user experiences for iPhone and Android and a website app for users to activate, set up, and track their Galeos devices.
The main goal of this app was to help users locate and recover their stolen assets quickly and easily. Extensive research and planning were necessary to create this app and ensure it meets the users’ needs.
Research and planning
The first phase was identifying the main features users would like to see in the app. This was done through a combination of surveys and interviews with potential users. The surveys were distributed online to a sample population of potential users, while the interviews were conducted with a select group of participants.
The second phase involved analyzing the data collected from the surveys and interviews. This helped identify common themes and patterns in the responses to the survey questions and the interview transcripts. The analysis helped identify users’ main pain points when dealing with stolen assets and helped shape the app’s design.
The final phase was to create low-fidelity prototypes with the main features to prove our theories and research. The prototypes were tested with a small group of users to get feedback on their functionality, usability, and design. Based on the feedback received from the prototype testing, we changed the design, prioritizing the features to make it more user-friendly and effective.
User research
Anti-theft devices to track assets using a mobile device and web app.
Objective:
The user research aimed to understand the needs, expectations, and pain points of potential users of an anti-theft system, including an app for tracking assets using a phone.
Methodology:
We conducted this user research using a combination of surveys and interviews. The surveys were distributed online to a sample population of potential users. In contrast, the interviews were conducted in person or over video conferencing with select participants.
Sample Population:
The sample population for this user research consisted of people who own valuable assets such as cars, bikes, trucks, boats, and electronics that they would like to protect from theft.
Survey Questions:
1. What kind of valuable assets do you own that you would like to protect from theft?
2. Have you ever experienced theft of any of your assets? If so, please describe the incident.
3. How important is it for you to have an anti-theft system in place for your assets?
4. What features would you like to see in an anti-theft system with a mobile app to track assets using a phone?
5. How much would you be willing to pay for an anti-theft system with a mobile app to track assets using a phone?
Interview Questions:
1. Can you describe a recent incident where you were worried about the safety of your asset(s)?
2. How did you attempt to secure your asset(s) in that situation?
3. What features would you like to see in an anti-theft system with a mobile app to track assets using a phone?
4. What would be your biggest concern when using such a system?
5. How much would you be willing to pay for an anti-theft system with a mobile app to track assets using a phone?
Expected Outcome:
The expected outcome of this user research was to gain insights into the needs, expectations, and pain points of potential users of an anti-theft system that includes a mobile app to track assets using a phone. We improved the product features, design, and pricing based on the feedback received to meet the target audience’s needs.
Survey results
The survey results clearly showed a significant demand for anti-theft devices that allow users to track their assets using their phones. Respondents expressed their need for a reliable and user-friendly system that offers real-time tracking, geofencing, and instant alerts in case of suspicious activity.
It was also evident that potential users are willing to pay a reasonable amount for such a system. The survey showed respondents are willing to pay a premium price for a system with advanced features and reliable performance. Therefore, designing a system that meets potential users’ needs and expectations while offering value for money was essential.
Conclusion
Overall, the survey provided valuable insights into the needs, expectations, and pain points of potential users of anti-theft devices to track assets using a phone. Based on these insights, we developed a product tailored to the needs of the target audience and ultimately gained a competitive advantage in the market.
User story
As a business owner, I want to use anti-theft devices to secure my assets and a mobile app to track them using my phone. This will help me monitor the movement of my assets in real time, receive alerts in case of any suspicious activity, and locate them quickly in case they are lost or stolen. I want to set up geofencing with the mobile app to be notified if the assets leave a designated area. Additionally, I want the app to provide me with detailed reports on the location and movement of my assets over a certain period of time so I can analyze the data and make informed decisions. Overall, I want a reliable and user-friendly anti-theft solution that will give me peace of mind and protect my assets.
